Sound Systems For Cars
In nineteen thirty Motorola came up with the first car radio, made by the Galvin manufacturing Corporation. In
Germany, Blapunkt put radios in the Studebakers. By the early nineteen fifties, FM radios were invented and through
the years, sound systems for cars kept getting more and more sophisticated. Car makers even tried to put in forty
five RPM disc players and reel to reel tapes in the car. Because of the size, they proved to not work real
well.
By the mid nineteen sixties sound systems for cars included the eight track cartridge tape system and they
cassette tapes. The eight tracks were not very good, because they were quite temperamental and soon became
obsolete. Though many still have them in their garages, thinking they might come back and become popular again.
Around the nineteen eighties came the compact disc craze and everyone wanted to put them in their sound systems
for cars. Then of course came the subwoofers that could blast sound a mile away, or so it seemed. In some cities,
there were laws that would prohibit sound systems for cars from reaching certain decibel levels.
Sound systems for cars come in two categories, stock and custom. The stock car audio comes with the car, built
into the car at the factory. It is now standard equipment, at one point it was not. You would have to buy it
separate. Then the custom sound systems for cars are usually upgraded or custom replacements.
Of the sound systems for cars there are four parts; amplifier, speakers and auxiliary devices, head units. Now
days there are also CD/MP3 players. The speakers will
reproduce the sound generated from the amplifier; the tweeters will hand the high frequencies; the low frequencies
will take care of the subwoofers. And the mid range speakers take care of everything else in between.
Then comes the size of sound systems for cars, the in dash units are sleeker and can hardly be seen. The speaker
sizes will vary. They range from in the door size to the subwoofers that can be as large as sixty inches. Many pull
out the back seats and put in the speakers. Modern day cars have a pretty good sound system, but there are those
who want to improve it and make the sound louder.
The radio in the sound system for cars has either a CD deck or cassette deck. You can adjust the bass, mid
levels and treble by setting the cars digital or analog EQ. when it comes to sound systems for cars there are
different sub box enclosures, it depends on the type of sound one requires. If one wants a boom type system, then
the ported box with the vents are what to get. For that hip hop sound, mostly bass, then there is a sealed
enclosure with no vents at all.
So there are many different ways to improve the sound system for cars. Sometimes you can install them yourself
or take the car to a shop that installs sound systems for cars and let them do it.
